Sheppey FM Mural

Working with HMP Elmley and CAP UK to create a community mural was a rewarding journey, bringing to life the rich historic and cultural legacy of the Isle Of Sheppey.

Over the duration of the project, from initial meetings at the prison to meeting the artists, the residents themselves and to see their progress on the painted panels for the mural has demonstrated the need for showcase of the creative talents of ALL of our community to new audiences.

The position of the mural , near the sea-front has brought a whole new audience to look and discover the contents.

Contributors Words

Happy to be donating something for the community.

Inspired me finding out the history of the Island and doing my own art work.

Made me more confident in myself. Never realised I had a creative side to me.

Happy to do it and happy others will have enjoyment out of it.

It gives me a good feeling knowing I am doing something for the community. Having done something from start to finish is a good feeling all round

Art is my air

Art is my life

My life is a work of art.

I like doing this Community Art project as it takes me to a place in my mind. It lets me express myself in different ways that I wouldn’t normally do.

Art is an open tap. Flowing creativity.

Keeps me motivated and gives me something to aim towards
